Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated the account of the Hajj of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: Then all the people left ihram and had their hair cut, except the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and those who had sacrificial animals with them. When it was the Day of Tarwiyah and they headed towards Mina, they said the talbiyah for Hajj. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) mounted and prayed Zuhr at Mina, and Asr as well, and Maghrib and Isha, and Fajr too. Then he stayed a little while until the sun rose, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that a tent of hair be pitched, and it was pitched for him at Namirah. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) set off, and Quraysh had no doubt that he (peace and blessings be upon him) would stop at al-Mash'ar al-Haram, as Quraysh used to do in the Jahiliyyah. But he (peace and blessings be upon him) passed on beyond it until he came to Arafah, and found that the tent had been pitched at Namirah, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) stayed there.

Abd al-Aziz bin Rufay' (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I asked Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): Tell me something you learned from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): where did he pray Zuhr on the Day of Tarwiyah? He said: At Mina. I said: And where did he pray Asr on the day of departure? He said: At al-Abtah. Then he said: Do as your rulers do.
