أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، وَأَبُو زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ الْمُزَكِّي، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْقَاضِي، قَالُوا: ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، أنبأ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ، أنبأ ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أنبأ مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ، وَغَيْرُهُ أَنَّ نَافِعًا أَخْبَرَهُمْ، ح وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عُثْمَانَ سَعِيدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدَانَ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الْحَافِظُ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ، وَجَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، قَالَا: ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى، قَالَ: قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مَالِكٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: " اللهُمَّ ارْحَمِ الْمُحَلِّقِينَ " قَالُوا: وَالْمُقَصِّرِينَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، قَالَ: " اللهُمَّ ارْحَمِ الْمُحَلِّقِينَ " قَالُوا: وَالْمُقَصِّرِينَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، قَالَ: " وَالْمُقَصِّرِينَ " رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ يُوسُفَ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ وَرَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ يَحْيَى.
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Allah, have mercy on those who shave their heads." They said: "And those who shorten their hair?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Allah, have mercy on those who shave their heads!" They said: "And those who shorten their hair too?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "And those who shorten their hair too."
أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَبْدَانَ، أنبأ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الصَّفَّارُ، ثنا ابْنُ مِلْحَانَ، ثنا يَحْيَى، حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ، ح وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، أنبأ إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى، أنبأ اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: حَلَقَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَحَلَقَ طَائِفَةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ، وَقَصَّرَ بَعْضُهُمْ، قَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " رَحِمَ اللهُ الْمُحَلِّقِينَ " مَرَّةً أَوْ مَرَّتَيْنِ ثُمَّ قَالَ: " وَالْمُقَصِّرِينَ " رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ يَحْيَى وَأَخْرَجَاهُ مِنْ حَدِيثِ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ وَقَالَ فِي الرَّابِعَةِ: " وَالْمُقَصِّرِينَ "، وَبِمَعْنَاهُ رَوَاهُ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ فِي إِحْدَى الرِّوَايَتَيْنِ عَنْهُ وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ، قَالَ: فِي الثَّالِثَةِ: " وَالْمُقَصِّرِينَ ".
(a) Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and a group of his Companions shaved their heads, and some had their hair cut short. Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "May Allah have mercy on those who shave their heads," once or twice, then he said: "And on those who cut their hair short too."
(b) In another narration, also from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), he said the fourth time: "And on those who cut their hair short."
(c) In one narration of Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), he said the third time: "And on those who cut their hair short."

وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ فُورَكٍ، أنبأ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ، ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ، ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، ثنا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ، عَنْ جَدَّتِهِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَعَا لِلْمُحَلِّقِينَ ثَلَاثَةً، وَلِلْمُقَصِّرِينَ مَرَّةً رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي دَاوُدَ وَزَادَ: فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ، قَالَ الشَّيْخُ: وَجَدَّتُهُ هِيَ أُمُّ حُصَيْنٍ الْأَحْمَسِيَّةُ.
Yahya bin Husayn narrates from his grandmother (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated three times for those who shaved their heads and once for those who cut their hair short.
The Shaykh said: His grandmother was Umm Husayn al-Ahmasiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her).

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ قَالَا: ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، أنبأ الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، أنبأ الشَّافِعِيُّ، أنبأ سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي حُسَيْنٍ، عَنْ أَبِي عَلِيٍّ الْأَزْدِيِّ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، يَقُولُ لِلْحَالِقِ: " ابْلُغِ الْعَظْمَ ".
Abu Ali al-Azdi says: I heard Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) saying to the one shaving his head: "Reach the bone."
