Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Which of you has begun the morning fasting today?" Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I have." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Which of you has followed a funeral today?" Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I have." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Which of you has fed a needy person today?" Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I have." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Which of you has visited a sick person today?" Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I have." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "These do not come together in any Muslim except that he will enter Paradise."

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Hasten to give charity, for calamity does not step past charity."
This is mawquf (a saying of the Companion); in the book of our shaykh Abu Nasr al-Fami it was marfu' (attributed to the Prophet), and that is a mistake.
