أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ صَالِحِ بْنِ هَانِئٍ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَنَسٍ الْقُرَشِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْمُقْرِئُ، ثنا حَيْوَةُ بْنُ شُرَيْحٍ، أنبأ أَبُو الْأَسْوَدِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عُرْوَةَ بْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ مَرْوَانَ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ: هَلْ صَلَّيْتَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ، قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ: نَعَمْ قَالَ مَرْوَانُ: مَتَى؟ فَقَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ: " عَامَ غَزْوَةِ نَجْدٍ، قَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ صَلَاةِ الْعَصْرِ فَقَامَتْ مَعَهُ طَائِفَةٌ، وَطَائِفَةٌ أُخْرَى مُقَابِلَ الْعَدُوِّ، وَظُهُورُهُمْ إِلَى الْقِبْلَةِ، فَكَبَّرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَكَبِّرُوا جَمِيعًا الَّذِينَ مَعَهُ وَالَّذِينَ مُقَابِلَ الْعَدُوِّ، ثُمَّ رَكَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَكْعَةً وَاحِدَةً، وَرَكَعَتِ الطَّائِفَةُ الَّتِي مَعَهُ، ثُمَّ سَجَدَ فَسَجَدَتِ الطَّائِفَةُ الَّتِي تَلِيهِ، وَالْآخَرُونَ قِيَامٌ مُقَابِلَ الْعَدُوِّ، ثُمَّ قَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَامَتِ الطَّائِفَةُ الَّتِي مَعَهُ فَذَهَبُوا إِلَى الْعَدُوِّ فَقَابَلُوهُمْ، وَأَقْبَلَتِ الطَّائِفَةُ مُقَابِلَ الْعَدُوِّ فَرَكَعُوا وَسَجَدُوا، وَرَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَائِمٌ كَمَا هُوَ، ثُمَّ قَامُوا فَرَكَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَكْعَةً أُخْرَى، وَرَكَعُوا مَعَهُ، وَسَجَدَ وَسَجَدُوا مَعَهُ، ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَتِ الطَّائِفَةُ الَّتِي كَانَتْ مُقَابِلَ الْعَدُوِّ فَرَكَعُوا وَسَجَدُوا، وَرَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَاعِدٌ وَمَنْ مَعَهُ، ثُمَّ كَانَ السَّلَامُ، فَسَلَّمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَسَلَّمُوا جَمِيعًا، فَكَانَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَلِكُلِّ رَجُلٍ مِنَ الطَّائِفَتَيْنِ رَكْعَةً رَكْعَةً ". كَذَا قَالَ وَالصَّوَابُ لِكُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنَ الطَّائِفَتَيْنِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ. أَخْبَرَنَا بِذَلِكَ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ الْمُقْرِئُ، أنبأ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، ثنا يُوسُفُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، ثنا حَيْوَةُ، وَابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ قَالَا: ثنا أَبُو الْأَسْوَدِ فَذَكَرَهُ بِمَعْنَاهُ. وَهَذَا بَيِّنٌ فِي تَفْسِيرِ الْحَدِيثِ وَلَعَلَّهُ أَرَادَ رَكْعَةً رَكْعَةً مَعَ الْإِمَامِ، وَكَذَلِكَ رَوَاهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ.
(a) Marwan bin al-Hakam asked Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him): Have you prayed the fear prayer with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)? Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Yes! Marwan asked: When? Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: In the campaign of Najd the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood for the Asr prayer. One group stood with him (peace and blessings be upon him) and the other facing the enemy, with their backs toward the qibla. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said the takbir, and all of them said the takbir too, both those who were with him (peace and blessings be upon him) and those who were facing the enemy. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made one ruku', and so did those who were with him (peace and blessings be upon him); then he (peace and blessings be upon him) prostrated and the group next to him prostrated, while the others remained standing facing the enemy. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up, and so did the group that was with him (peace and blessings be upon him). Now these stood facing the enemy, and those who had been standing facing the enemy came. They made ruku' and sujud while the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was standing. Then they stood up. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made the second ruku', and they made ruku' with him (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) prostrated and they prostrated with him (peace and blessings be upon him). Then the group that had been standing facing the enemy came, and they made ruku' and sujud while the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting, and those who were with him as well. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and all of them gave the salam; so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had two rak'ahs and each group one rak'ah each.

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، وَأَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ أَبِي عَمْرٍو قَالَا: ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ، ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: " صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالنَّاسِ صَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ فَصَدَعَ النَّاسُ صَدْعَيْنِ فَقَامَتْ طَائِفَةٌ خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَطَائِفَةٌ تِجَاهَ الْعَدُوِّ، فَصَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمَنْ خَلْفَهُ رَكْعَةً وَسَجَدَ بِهِمْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ قَامَ وَقَامُوا مَعَهُ، فَلَمَّا اسْتَوَى قَائِمًا رَجَعَ الَّذِينَ خَلْفَهُ وَرَاءَهُمُ الْقَهْقَرَى، فَقَامُوا وَرَاءَ الَّذِينَ بِإِزَاءِ الْعَدُوِّ، وَجَاءَ الْآخَرُونَ فَقَامُوا خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَصَلُّوا لِأَنْفُسِهِمْ رَكْعَةً، وَرَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَائِمٌ، ثُمَّ قَامُوا فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ ⦗٣٧٦⦘ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُخْرَى فَكَانَتْ لَهُمْ وَلِرَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ الَّذِينَ بِإِزَاءِ الْعَدُوِّ فَصَلُّوا لِأَنْفُسِهِمْ رَكْعَةً وَسَجْدَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ جَلَسُوا خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَسَلَّمَ بِهِمْ جَمِيعًا ". كَذَا رَوَاهُ يُونُسُ بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، وَرَوَاهُ سَلَمَةُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ، عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، وَمُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْأَسْوَدِ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ. وَرَوَاهُ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ نَوْفَلٍ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، وَعَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ. مَعَ اخْتِلَافٍ فِي لَفْظِ حَدِيثِ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا، لَيْسَ ذَلِكَ فِي لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَمَا رِوَايَتُهُ عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ فَذَكَرَهُ أَبُو الْأَزْهَرِ، عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ.
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) led the people in the fear prayer and divided them into two groups. One group was behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and the other group facing the enemy. He (peace and blessings be upon him) led those behind him in one rak'ah and had them make two prostrations in it. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up, and they also stood up with him (peace and blessings be upon him). When he (peace and blessings be upon him) had stood upright, those who were behind him (peace and blessings be upon him) walked backwards. They stood behind those who were facing the enemy. Then the other group came. They stood behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). They prayed one rak'ah of their own while the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was standing. Then they stood up. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led them in the other rak'ah, so they and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) each had two rak'ahs. Then those who were facing the enemy came. They prayed one rak'ah of their own with two prostrations. Then they sat behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) gave the salam with all of them.
فَأَمَّا رِوَايَتُهُ عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، فَأَخْبَرَنَاهُ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، ثنا أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ يَحْيَى الْمُقْرِئُ بِبَغْدَادَ، ثنا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ الدُّورِيُّ، ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، ح وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو طَاهِرٍ الْفَقِيهُ، ثنا أَبُو حَامِدِ بْنُ بِلَالٍ الْبَزَّارُ، ثنا أَبُو الْأَزْهَرِ، ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، ثنا أَبِي، عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ: " صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالنَّاسِ صَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ بِذَاتِ الرِّقَاعِ، فَصَدَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ النَّاسَ صَدْعَيْنِ، فَصُفَّتْ طَائِفَةٌ وَرَاءَهُ، وَقَامَتْ طَائِفَةٌ وِجَاهَ الْعَدُوِّ، قَالَتْ: فَكَبَّرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَكَبَّرَتِ الطَّائِفَةُ الَّذِينَ صَلَّوْا خَلْفَهُ، ثُمَّ رَكَعَ فَرَكَعُوا، ثُمَّ سَجَدَ فَسَجَدُوا، ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأْسَهُ فَرَفَعُوا مَعَهُ، ثُمَّ مَكَثَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَالِسًا فَسَجَدُوا لِأَنْفُسِهِمُ السَّجْدَةَ الثَّانِيَةَ، ثُمَّ قَامُوا فَنَكَصُوا عَلَى أَعْقَابِهِمْ يَمْشُونَ الْقَهْقَرَى حَتَّى قَامُوا مِنْ وَرَائِهِمْ، وَأَقْبَلَتِ الطَّائِفَةُ الْأُخْرَى فَصَفُّوا خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَكَبَّرُوا ثُمَّ رَكَعُوا لِأَنْفُسِهِمْ، ثُمَّ سَجَدَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَجْدَتَهُ الثَّانِيَةَ فَسَجَدُوا مَعَهُ، ثُمَّ قَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي رَكْعَتِهِ الثَّانِيَةِ، وَسَجَدُوا هُمْ لِأَنْفُسِهِمُ السَّجْدَةَ الثَّانِيَةَ، ثُمَّ قَامَتِ الطَّائِفَتَانِ جَمِيعًا فَصَفُّوا خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَرَكَعَ بِهِمْ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَكْعَةً فَرَكَعُوا جَمِيعًا، ثُمَّ سَجَدَ فَسَجَدُوا جَمِيعًا، ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ فَرَفَعُوا مَعَهُ، كُلُّ ذَلِكَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَرِيعًا جِدًّا، لَا يَأْلُو أَنْ يُخَفِّفَ مَا اسْتَطَاعَ، ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَسَلَّمُوا، ثُمَّ قَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَدْ شَرَكَهُ النَّاسُ فِي صَلَاتِهِ كُلِّهَا ". حَدِيثُهُمَا سَوَاءٌ فِي الْمَعْنَى وَقَدْ تَزِيدُ إِحْدَاهُمَا عَلَى الْأُخْرَى بِكَلِمَةٍ أَوْ نَحْوِهَا.
Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) led the people in the fear prayer at Dhat al-Riqa'. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) divided them into two parts: one row was behind him (peace and blessings be upon him) and the other row was facing the enemy. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said 'Allahu akbar' (Allah is the Greatest), and those who had formed a row behind him (peace and blessings be upon him) also said 'Allahu akbar' (Allah is the Greatest). Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) bowed and they bowed too. He (peace and blessings be upon him) prostrated and they prostrated. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his head and they raised their heads too; then he (peace and blessings be upon him) remained sitting. Then they made the second prostration by themselves, then stood up and walked backwards on their heels until they stood behind the others. Then the other group came and formed a row behind the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Then they said 'Allahu akbar' (Allah is the Greatest). Then they bowed. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made his second prostration, and they prostrated with him (peace and blessings be upon him). Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood for the second rak'ah, and they made the second prostration. Then both groups stood. They formed rows behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made one ruku' and all of them made ruku' too. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) prostrated and all of them prostrated too; then he (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his head and they raised their heads too. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did all of this quickly; he (peace and blessings be upon him) spared no effort in lightening it and led a light prayer as far as he could. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave the salam and they gave the salam too; then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up, and indeed the people had shared with him (peace and blessings be upon him) in his entire prayer.
