It is mentioned about Sayyiduna Zayd bin Suhan (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "If a person speaks and he is close to you, press him with your hand, and if he is far away, forbid him by gesturing to him."

Sharik says that I heard Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) say that a man entered the mosque while the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was delivering the sermon on the pulpit on Friday, and said: O Messenger of Allah! When will the Hour be established? The people gestured to him to be quiet. He asked three times, and the people were gesturing to him to be quiet. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said the third time: "Woe to you! What have you prepared for it?"
