Ubayd bin Umayr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that a group gathered somewhere around Makkah, I think in the upper part of the valley, during the days of Hajj. The time of prayer came, and a man of non-Arab tongue from the family of Abu al-Sa'ib went forward. Sayyiduna al-Miswar bin Makhramah (may Allah be pleased with him) moved him back and put someone else forward. This reached Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), but he did not ask him anything about it until he came to Madinah; when he came to Madinah, he asked him. Sayyiduna al-Miswar bin Makhramah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "O Commander of the Believers! Hear me out. This man is of non-Arab tongue, and it was during the days of Hajj, so I feared that some of the pilgrims would hear his recitation and adopt his non-Arab way of reciting." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Is that what you were aiming at?" He said: "Yes." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "You did right."

Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Allah benefited me through a word I heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), after I had almost joined the people of the Camel to fight alongside them. When the news reached the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that the people of Persia had made the daughter of Chosroes their ruler, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A people who entrust their affairs to a woman will never succeed."
