(a) It is narrated from the wife of the Messenger, the Mother of the Believers, Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave the salam ending his prayer, the women would stand up while he was still completing his salam, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would remain in his place for a little while.
(b) Ibn Shihab (may Allah have mercy on him) says: His (peace and blessings be upon him) staying was for this reason, so that the women could reach their homes before the people finished the prayer.
