Ali bin Abd al-Rahman al-Mu'awi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) saw me playing with pebbles in the prayer. When he finished the prayer, he forbade me and said: Do as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do. I asked: How did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) use to do it? He said: When he (peace and blessings be upon him) sat in the prayer, he would place his right palm on his right thigh, close all his fingers, point with the index finger, and place his left palm on his left thigh.
