(a) Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "When the imam says Amin, then you say Amin, for the angels also say Amin. Whoever's Amin coincides with the Amin of the angels, his previous sins will be forgiven."
(b) Ibn Shihab (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say Amin in the prayer.

(a) It is narrated from Sayyiduna Wa'il bin Hujr (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said Amin, he would raise his voice.
(b) In the narration of al-Sulami it is: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'Nor of those who go astray' [Surah al-Fatihah: 7]; he would then also say Amin, and he would say Amin aloud in the prayer.

Hadith Takhrij«صحيح۔ اخرجه الدار قطني في سننه 1/333»
(a) Wa'il bin Hujr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him); when he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Not of those who have earned (Your) anger, nor of those who go astray' [Surah al-Fatihah: 7], he said: "Amin," and he drew out his voice with the Amin.
(b) Likewise Waki' bin al-Jarrah narrated it from Sufyan with these words: "He would draw out his voice in saying Amin," and al-Firyabi narrates from Sufyan in this hadith that he (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his voice when saying Amin and also prolonged it.

(a) Alqamah bin Wa'il (may Allah have mercy on him) said that Wa'il (may Allah be pleased with him) prayed with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). When he (peace and blessings be upon him) recited: 'Not of those who have earned (Your) anger, nor of those who go astray' [Surah al-Fatihah: 7], he said Amin and kept his voice low.
(b) Muhammad bin Isma'il al-Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Shu'bah is contradicted in this hadith in three things: it is said that Hujr is Abu al-Sakan, and he is Ibn Anbas; he added Alqamah to it, though he is not in it; and he said that he (peace and blessings be upon him) kept his voice low, whereas he (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his voice when saying Amin. Abu Isa al-Tirmidhi reported from al-Bukhari that the hadith of Sufyan al-Thawri from Salamah on this topic is more correct than the hadith of Shu'bah, and that Shu'bah erred in it; Abu Zur'ah al-Razi said the same.
(c) The Shaykh (may Allah have mercy on him) said: His error in the text is clear. As for his saying that Hujr is Abu al-Anbas, Muhammad bin Kathir (may Allah have mercy on him) also reported it in the same way from al-Thawri (may Allah have mercy on him). As for his narrating it from Alqamah, he made clear in his narration that Hujr heard it from Alqamah, and he also heard it from Wa'il himself. Abu al-Walid al-Tayalisi narrated it from Shu'bah like the narration of al-Thawri.

It is narrated from Wa'il al-Hadrami (may Allah be pleased with him) that he prayed behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When he said: 'Nor of those who go astray' [Surah al-Fatihah: 7], he said: "Amin," and raised his voice. Like the narration of al-Thawri (may Allah have mercy on him), it has also been reported from Wa'il bin Hujr (may Allah be pleased with him) through two other routes.

It is narrated from Nu'aym al-Mujmir that Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) led us in prayer. He recited: 'In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful' [Surah al-Fatihah: 1], then recited Surah al-Fatihah until, when he reached: 'Not of those who have earned (Your) anger, nor of those who go astray' [Surah al-Fatihah: 7], he said Amin. Then, after the prayer, he said: By the One in whose hand is my soul, of all of you my prayer is the most like the prayer of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
