أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو زَكَرِيَّا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى الْمُزَكِّي، وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْقَاضِي، قَالَا: أنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، أنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ، أنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، ح. قَالَ: وَحَدَّثَنَا بَحْرُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ، قَالَا: قُرِئَ عَلَى ابْنِ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَكَ ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الْمَعَافِرِيِّ، قَالَا: سَمِعْتُ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْحُبُلِيَّ، يَقُولُ: " رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُدَلِّكُ بِخِنْصَرِهِ مَا بَيْنَ أَصَابِعِ رِجْلَيْهِ ".
Yazid bin Amr al-Ma'afiri (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I heard Abu Abd al-Rahman al-Hubuli (may Allah have mercy on him) say that Sayyiduna Mustawrid bin Shaddad al-Qurashi (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) rubbing between the toes of his feet with his little finger.
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو حَازِمٍ عُمَرُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الْحَافِظُ، أنا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِدْرِيسَ الْحَنْظَلِيُّ بِالرِّيِّ، أنا أَحْمَدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَمِّي، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ مَالِكًا يُسْأَلُ عَنْ تَخْلِيلِ أَصَابِعِ الرِّجْلَيْنِ فِي الْوُضُوءِ؟ فَقَالَ: لَيْسَ ذَلِكَ عَلَى النَّاسِ. قَالَ: فَتَرَكْتُهُ حَتَّى خَفَّ النَّاسُ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ: يَا أَبَا عَبْدَ اللهِ، سَمِعْتُكَ تُفْتِي فِي مَسْأَلَةِ تَخْلِيلِ أَصَابِعِ الرِّجْلَيْنِ، زَعَمْتَ أَنْ لَيْسَ ذَلِكَ عَلَى النَّاسِ، وَعِنْدَنَا فِي ذَلِكَ سُنَّةٌ، فَقَالَ: وَمَا هِيَ؟ فَقُلْتُ: ثنا اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، وَابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، وَعَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الْمَعَافِرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْحُبُلِيِّ، عَنِ الْمُسْتَوْرِدِ بْنِ شَدَّادٍ الْقُرَشِيِّ، قَالَ: " رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُدَلِّكُ بِخِنْصَرِهِ مَا بَيْنَ أَصَابِعِ رِجْلَيْهِ ". فَقَالَ: إِنَّ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ، وَمَا سَمِعْتُ بِهِ قَطُّ إِلَّا السَّاعَةَ، ثُمَّ سَمِعْتُهُ يُسْأَلُ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ، فَأَمَرَ بِتَخْلِيلِ الْأَصَابِعِ. قَالَ عَمِّي: مَا أَقَلَّ مَنْ يَتَوَضَّأُ إِلَّا وَيُحِيطُهُ الْخَطُّ الَّذِي تَحْتَ الْإِبْهَامِ فِي الرِّجْلِ، فَإِنَّ النَّاسَ يُثْنُونَ إِبْهَامَهُمْ عِنْدَ الْوُضُوءِ، وَمَنْ تَفَقَّدَ ذَلِكَ سَلِمَ ".
Ahmad bin Abd al-Rahman bin Wahb (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I heard my uncle say that he heard Imam Malik (may Allah have mercy on him) being asked about passing the fingers between the toes in ablution, and he said: "That is not (obligatory) upon people." He says: I left him until the crowd had thinned, then I said to him: O Abu Abdullah, I heard you giving a ruling on passing the fingers between the toes, that it is not (required) of people, while we have a Sunnah (hadith) on this. He asked: What is it? I said: It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mustawrid bin Shaddad al-Qurashi (may Allah be pleased with him): I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him); he "would rub between the toes of his feet with his little finger." He said: "This is indeed a good (hasan) hadith," and I had never heard it before now. Then after that I heard him being asked about passing the fingers between the toes, and he ordered it. My uncle says: Very few people perform ablution without a hair's breadth of the area beneath the big toe remaining dry, because people curl their big toes while performing ablution; so whoever passes his fingers through it is safe from this mistake.
