أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حِمْشَاذَ الْعَدْلُ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ بَالُوَيْهِ، قَالَا: أنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْحَرْبِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، ثنا عَزْرَةُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، قَالَ: جَاءَ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ: أَصَابَتْنِي جَنَابَةٌ وَإِنِّي تَمَعَّكْتُ فِي التُّرَابِ فَقَالَ: " اضْرِبْ " فَضَرَبَ بِيَدَيْهِ الْأَرْضَ فَمَسَحَ وَجْهَهُ، ثُمَّ ضَرَبَ بِيَدَيْهِ فَمَسَحَ بِهِمَا يَدَيْهِ إِلَى الْمِرْفَقَيْنِ. كَذَا قَالَهُ وَإِسْنَادُهُ صَحِيحٌ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ لَمْ يُبَيِّنِ الْأَمْرَ لَهُ بِذَلِكَ.
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: A man came and said: I became junub, and I rolled about in the dust (for tayammum). He said: "Strike your hands on the soil." So he struck his hands on the ground and wiped his face, then struck his hands (on the ground) again and wiped his hands up to the elbows.
This is how he narrated it, and its chain is sahih (authentic), except that it does not make clear the instruction given to him for this.
