Urwah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his father, Sayyiduna al-Zubayr bin al-Awwam (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: We came with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) from Liyyah, heading for Makkah. When we were at the lote tree (al-Sidrah), at the edge of al-Qarn al-Aswad opposite it, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) fixed his gaze on a valley, then stood still until the people gathered. Then he said: "Indeed, the game of Wajj and its thorny trees are sacred and forbidden." That was before he halted at al-Ta'if and besieged Thaqif.
(b) In Ahmad bin Hanbal's narration from Abdullah bin al-Harith: He fixed his gaze on a valley.
