أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيُّ، أنبأ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ الْكَارِزِيُّ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، عَنْ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ " أَنَّهُ قَضَى فِي الضَّبُعِ كَبْشًا، وَفِي الظَّبْيِ شَاةً وَفِي الْيَرْبُوعِ جَفْرًا أَوْ جَفْرَةً "، قَالَ أَبُو عُبَيْدٍ: قَالَ أَبُو زَيْدٍ: الْجَفْرُ: مِنْ أَوْلَادِ الْمَعْزِ مَا بَلَغَ أَرْبَعَةَ أَشْهُرٍ وَفُصِلَ عَنْ أُمِّهِ.
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that he ruled a ram for a hyena, a goat for a gazelle, and the young of a goat or sheep for a jerboa.
Abu Ubayd says: «Al-jafr» is "the young of goats that has reached four months of age and been weaned from its mother."
