Kurayb (may Allah have mercy on him) said that he asked Sayyiduna Usamah bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with them both): "Tell me, on the night you rode behind the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), what did you do that day?" He said: We came to the mountain pass where people make their camels kneel to rest for the night. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) made his she-camel kneel, then urinated. Then he called for water for ablution and performed a light ablution. I said: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! The prayer." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The prayer is ahead of you." He said: Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) mounted until we came to Muzdalifah, and the iqamah for Maghrib was called. Then the people made their camels kneel at their places, and they had not yet unloaded their saddles when the iqamah for Isha was called. Then the people unloaded. I said: What did you do in the morning? He said: al-Fadl (may Allah be pleased with him) rode behind him (peace and blessings be upon him), and I went on foot among the front party of Quraysh.
