Bayhaqi 9484 — What the one departing from Arafah does

Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned from Arafah with the utmost calm and tranquillity, and Usamah (may Allah be pleased with him) was riding behind him. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O people! Hold fast to tranquillity; righteousness is not in making camels and horses run."
He said: I did not see (his mount) lifting its feet (i.e. running) until he reached Jam' (Muzdalifah).
