أَخْبَرَنَاهُ أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْقَاضِي، ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ الْأَصَمُّ، أنبأ الرَّبِيعُ، أنبأ الشَّافِعِيُّ، أنبأ ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ طَاوُسٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَرَ أَصْحَابَهُ أَنْ يُهَجِّرُوا بِالْإِفَاضَةِ وَأَفَاضَ فِي نِسَائِهِ لَيْلًا عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ يَسْتَلِمُ الرُّكْنَ بِمِحْجَنِهِ أَحْسَبُهُ قَالَ: " وَيُقَبِّلُ طَرَفَ الْمِحْجَنِ " قَالَ الشَّيْخُ: وَالَّذِي رَوَى عَنْهُ أَنَّهُ طَافَ بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ رَاكِبًا فَإِنَّمَا أَرَادَ، وَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ فِي سَعْيِهِ بَعْدَ طَوَافِ الْقُدُومِ، فَأَمَّا بَعْدَ طَوَافِ الْإِفَاضَةِ فَلَمْ يُحْفَظْ عَنْهُ أَنَّهُ طَافَ بَيْنَهُمَا، وَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ.
Tawus (may Allah have mercy on him) says that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them): "Perform the Tawaf al-Ifadah early." And he (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the Ifadah at night together with his wives (may Allah be pleased with them), riding on a camel. He (peace and blessings be upon him) would touch the Black Stone with his staff and kiss its tip.
The Shaykh said: What has been reported, that he (peace and blessings be upon him) went between al-Safa and al-Marwah riding, what is meant by it, and Allah knows best,
is the sa'i after the Tawaf al-Qudum (arrival tawaf); as for after the Tawaf al-Ifadah, it is not preserved from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that he went between them. And Allah knows best.
The Shaykh said: What has been reported, that he (peace and blessings be upon him) went between al-Safa and al-Marwah riding, what is meant by it, and Allah knows best,
