وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، وَأَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ قَالَا: ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، أنبأ عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ بْنُ عَطَاءٍ، أنبأ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ، سَمِعَ رَجُلًا يَقُولُ: لَبَّيْكَ بِحَجَّةٍ فَضَرَبَ فِي صَدْرِهِ وَقَالَ: " أَتُعْلِمُ اللهَ مَا فِي نَفْسِكَ؟ ".
Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) heard a man saying: "Labbayka bi-hajjah" (Here I am, for Hajj), so he struck him on his chest and said: Are you informing Allah of what is in your heart?
