(a) It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had a towel or a cloth; when he (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution, he would wipe his face. Abd al-Warith said: It was in a small bundle (qutaynah), and Ibn Ulayyah took it, so I do not narrate it.
(b) Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): when he performed ablution, he would wipe his face with the edge of his garment.
(c) The Shaykh said: If Abd al-Warith had narrated this hadith from Abd al-Aziz from Anas, the chain would be sahih (authentic), but he did not narrate it that way; it is possible that he had it only with the first chain.
The narration of Mu'adh is da'if (weak).
