Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) came reciting the talbiyah for Umrah, until, when she reached Sarif, she began menstruating. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) went in to her and she was weeping, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What makes you weep?" She said: I have begun menstruating, I have not yet come out of ihram, nor have I performed tawaf of the House, and the people are now going to Hajj. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is a matter which Allah Almighty has decreed for the daughters of Adam, so take a ritual bath (ghusl) and recite the talbiyah for Hajj." So she did that and stayed at all the stations, until, when she became pure, she performed tawaf of the Ka'bah and of Safa and Marwah. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You have now come out of ihram from both your Hajj and your Umrah." She said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! I feel something in my heart, that I did not perform tawaf of the House before I performed Hajj. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Abd al-Rahman! Take her and have her perform Umrah from al-Tan'im." And that was on the night of al-Hasbah (the night he stayed in the valley of al-Muhassab).
Imam al-Shafi'i (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Her (first) Umrah was in Dhu al-Hijjah; then she asked him to have her perform Umrah, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) had her perform Umrah in Dhu al-Hijjah as well. So these were two Umrahs in a single month.
