وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ السُّكَّرِيُّ بِبَغْدَادَ، أنبأ إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الصَّفَّارُ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أنبأ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي يَزِيدَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ يَقُولُ: " مَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَتَحَرَّى صِيَامَ يَوْمٍ يَلْتَمِسُ فَضْلَهُ عَلَى غَيْرِهِ إِلَّا هَذَا الْيَوْمَ يَوْمَ عَاشُورَاءَ وَشَهْرَ رَمَضَانَ " رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ رَافِعٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ وَأَخْرَجَاهُ مِنْ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: I never saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) seeking out the fast of any day, preferring it over other fasts, except this day, that is, the day of Ashura, and the month of Ramadan.
