كَمَا أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ فُورَكٍ، أنبأ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ، ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، ثنا شُعْبَةُ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ خَيْثَمَةَ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِي عَطِيَّةَ الْوَادِعِيِّ، قَالَ: دَخَلْتُ أَنَا وَمَسْرُوقٌ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ، أَوْ قَالَ: دَخَلْنَا عَلَى عَائِشَةَ، فَقُلْنَا: يَا أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، إِنَّ فِينَا رَجُلَيْنِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، أَمَّا أَحَدُهُمَا فَيُعَجِّلُ الْإِفْطَارَ وَيُؤَخِّرُ السُّحُورَ، وَأَمَّا الْآخَرُ فَيُؤَخِرُ الْإِفْطَارَ وَيُعَجِّلُ السُّحُورَ، فَقَالَتْ: " مَنْ هَذَا الَّذِي يُعَجِّلُ الْإِفْطَارَ وَيُؤَخِّرُ السُّحُورَ؟ " قُلْنَا: ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ، قَالَتْ: " كَذَلِكَ كَانَ يَفْعَلُ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " فَهَكَذَا رَوَاهُ ابْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ وَجَرِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ خَيْثَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، وَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ.
Abu Atiyyah al-Wadi'i said: Masruq and I went to Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her). We said: "O Mother of the Believers! There are two men among the Companions of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him): one of them hastens the breaking of the fast but delays the suhur, while the other delays the breaking of the fast and hastens the suhur." She said: "Who is the one who hastens the breaking of the fast and delays the suhur?" We said: "He is Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him)." She said: "This is how the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do."
