أَخْبَرَنَاهُ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ فُورَكٍ، أنبأ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ، ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " صُومُوا رَمَضَانَ لِرُؤْيَتِهِ، وَأَفْطِرُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ، فَإِنْ حَالَ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهُ غَمَامَةٌ أَوْ ضَبَابَةٌ فَأَكْمِلُوا شَهْرَ شَعْبَانَ ثَلَاثِينَ، وَلَا تَسْتَقْبِلُوا رَمَضَانَ بِصَوْمِ يَوْمٍ مِنْ شَعْبَانَ " وَكَأَنَّهُ ذَكَرَ الْحُكْمَ فِي الطَّرَفَيْنِ جَمِيعًا، فَرَوَى كُلُّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا أَحَدَ طَرَفَيْهِ.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Fast Ramadan upon the appearing of it (the crescent) and break the fast upon its appearing. If clouds come between you and it, then complete thirty days of Sha'ban, and do not welcome Ramadan by fasting a day in Sha'ban."
