Nafi' (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) fell ill and he craved grapes, when the first grapes came. Sayyidah Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) sent a dirham, and a bunch of grapes was bought with the dirham. A beggar followed the messenger, and when he reached the door and went inside, the beggar said: "A beggar! A beggar!" Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "Give it to him," so they gave it to him. Then she sent another dirham and a bunch of grapes was bought with it, and the beggar followed the messenger again. When he reached the door and went inside, the beggar said: "A beggar! A beggar!" Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "Give it to him," so they gave it to him. Then Sayyidah Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) sent word to the beggar and said: "By Allah, if you come back, you will never receive any good from me." Then she sent another dirham and bought (grapes) with it.
