Bayhaqi 757 — Sprinkling water after ablution (wudu) to ward off

(a) Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) called for water and performed ablution once each (that is, he washed each limb once) and sprinkled water."
(b) Imam Ahmad (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Qabisah alone narrates the word "sprinkling" (nadh) from Sufyan; a group narrated this hadith from Sufyan without this addition. And Allah knows best.
