Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) said that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent him to Yemen, he ordered: "As long as the threshold is not complete, there is no zakah on less, until the silver reaches two hundred dirhams; and if it exceeds that, nothing should be taken (on the excess) until it reaches forty dirhams, then one dirham should be taken from it."
Ali bin Umar (al-Daraqutni, may Allah have mercy on him) said: Al-Minhal bin al-Jarrah is matruk al-hadith (abandoned in hadith); he is Abu al-'Atuf, and his name is al-Jarrah bin Minhal; Ibn Ishaq used to reverse his name when narrating from him. And 'Ubadah bin Nusayy did not hear from Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him).
The Shaykh also said: If this were authentic, we would have held it and not opposed it, but its chain is very weak.
