Bayhaqi 72 — Tanning is required to purify the skin of an animal

It is narrated from Khalid (may Allah have mercy on him) that al-Miqdam bin Ma'dikarib (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: I ask you by Allah, do you know that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade wearing the skins of predatory animals and riding on them? He said: Yes.
