أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، ثنا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، أنبأ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ كَيْسَانَ، ح وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو عَمْرِو بْنُ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ، ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ كَيْسَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: زَارَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَبْرَ أُمِّهِ فَبَكَى ⦗١٢٨⦘ وَأَبْكَى مَنْ حَوْلَهُ فَقَالَ: " اسْتَأْذَنْتُ رَبِّي فِي أَنْ أَسْتَغْفِرَ لَهَا فَلَمْ يَأْذَنْ لِي، فَاسْتَأْذَنْتُهُ فِي أَنْ أَزُورَ قَبْرَهَا فَأَذِنَ لِي فَزُورُوا الْقُبُورَ؛ فَإِنَّهَا تُذَكِّرُكُمُ الْمَوْتَ " رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ.
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) visited the grave of his mother, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) wept and made those around him weep. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I asked my Lord for permission to seek forgiveness for her, but I was not given permission. Then I asked for permission to visit her grave, and it was given to me. So visit the graves, for they certainly remind you of death."
