أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْجَرَّاحِيُّ بِمَرْو، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ شَاسَوَيْهِ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْكَرِيمِ السُّكَّرِيُّ، ثنا وَهْبُ بْنُ زَمْعَةَ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ، قَالَ: قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْمُبَارَكِ: مَا أَدْرِي مَنْ أَخْبَرَنِي عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " لَمْ يَتَنَوَّرْ " قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ: وَهُوَ أَشْبَهُ الْأَمْرَيْنِ أَنْ لَا يَكُونَ وَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ الْآخَرَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَلِيَ عَانَتَهُ، فَقَالَ: هَذَا ضَعِيفٌ. قَالَ الشَّيْخُ: الْحَدِيثُ فِيهِ مَا قَدَّمْتُهُ، وَقَدْ رُوِيَ بِإِسْنَادٍ آخَرَ لَيْسَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ بَعْضُ رِجَالِهِ.
Ibn al-Mubarak (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I do not know who informed me from Qatadah that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not use depilatory powder. Abdullah (Ibn al-Mubarak) said: Of the two matters, the more likely is that he did not use it. (b) He mentioned the other hadith, that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) removed his pubic hair himself, and said: This narration is weak.
