Bayhaqi 6938 — The number of takbirs in the funeral prayer

Ibrahim al-Hajari (may Allah have mercy on him) also narrated it from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) with the same meaning, except that he said: They said: "We have seen that." He said: "I would not do that; indeed, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say four takbirs, then remain (standing) for as long as Allah willed."
Ja'far bin Awn said: Ibrahim al-Hajari informed me, and he mentioned it within a story he related from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him).
