أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ، وَأَبُو زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، قَالَا: ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، ثنا بَحْرُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ، ثنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ الْقَاسِمِ، تَحَدَّثَ أَنَّ الْقَاسِمَ: كَانَ يَمْشِي بَيْنَ يَدَيِ الْجِنَازَةِ وَيَجْلِسُ قَبْلَ أَنْ تُوضَعَ، وَلَا يَقُومُ لَهَا وَكَانَ يُخْبِرُ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى الله عَلَيهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ: " كَانَ أَهْلُ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ يَقُومُونَ لَهَا إِذَا رَأَوْهَا وَيَقُولُونَ فِي أَهْلِكِ مَا أَنْتِ فِي أَهْلِكِ مَا أَنْتِ ".
Abd al-Rahman bin al-Qasim said that al-Qasim used to walk in front of the funeral bier and would sit before it was set down, and he would not stand for it. He used to report from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that she used to say: In the time of Jahiliyyah (pre-Islamic ignorance), people used to stand for it when they saw it, and would say: "You are no longer among your family, you are no longer among your family."
