Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) says that he (peace and blessings be upon him) offered the funeral prayer over the slain of Uhud after eight years, like one bidding farewell to the living and the dead. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) ascended the minbar and said: "Indeed, I am your forerunner and I am a witness over you; your appointed meeting place is the Pond, and I am looking at it from this place where I stand. I do not fear for you that you will commit shirk, but I fear for you that you will become entangled in the world." And that was the last look I cast at him (peace and blessings be upon him). Sayyiduna Uqbah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the last time I saw him (peace and blessings be upon him) was on the minbar.
