Sayyidah Umm Atiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that a daughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) died, and we asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Wash her an odd number of times, three or five, or more than that if you see the need, and at the end put camphor or something of camphor; and when you have finished, inform me." She says: When we informed him (peace and blessings be upon him), he (peace and blessings be upon him) threw us his waist-wrapper and said: "Put this on her (next to her body)." She says: Then we braided the hair of her head, her forelock and her two sides, into three plaits, and let them fall behind her.
