Bayhaqi 6654 — Fire is not to follow the deceased

Abu Burdah (may Allah have mercy on him) related that when death approached Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him), he left this instruction: When you set out with my funeral, walk quickly; do not follow behind me with fire; do not place anything on my lahd (the niche of the grave) that comes between me and the earth; and do not build any structure over my grave. I call you to witness that I am free of "the woman who strikes herself, the woman who wails, and the woman who tears her clothes." The people said to him: Did you hear anything about this from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? He said: "Yes, from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) himself."
