أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، ثنا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ أَبِي عِيسَى، وَإِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْعَفَصِيُّ قَالَا: ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عِيسَى، أَخْبَرَنِي مَالِكٌ، ح وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ، وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ شَاذَانَ، ثنا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ حَلْحَلَةَ الدُّؤَلِيِّ، عَنْ مَعْبَدِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ، عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ بْنِ رِبْعِيٍّ قَالَ: مَرَّ بِرَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَنَازَةٌ فَقَالَ: " مُسْتَرِيحٌ وَمُسْتَرَاحٌ مِنْهُ " قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، مَا الْمُسْتَرِيحُ؟ وَمَا الْمُسْتَرَاحُ مِنْهُ؟ قَالَ: " الْعَبْدُ الْمُؤْمِنُ يَسْتَرِيحُ مِنْ نَصَبِ الدُّنْيَا وَأَذَاهَا إِلَى رَحْمَةِ اللهِ، وَالْعَبْدُ الْفَاجِرُ يَسْتَرِيحُ مِنْهُ الْعِبَادُ، وَالْبِلَادُ، وَالشَّجَرُ، وَالدَّوَابُّ ". رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي أُوَيْسٍ عَنْ مَالِكٍ، وَرَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ عَنْ قُتَيْبَةَ.
Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah bin Rib'i (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a funeral passed by him (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Mustarih wa mustarah minhu" (This one is either at rest, or one from whom others are relieved). They said: "O Messenger of Allah, what is the one at rest (mustarih) and the one from whom others are relieved (mustarah minhu)?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The believing servant finds rest from the hardships and troubles of the world and attains the mercy of Allah; and the one who is a sinner, people, cities, trees and animals find relief from him."
