Book of the Prayer for Rain
باب: ما يستحب من كثرة الاستغفار في خطبة الاستسقاء وأن يقول كثيرا: استغفروا ربكم إنه كان غفارا. يرسل السماء عليكم مدرارا
Chapter: It is recommended to seek forgiveness abundantly in the sermon of the prayer for rain and to say often: "Seek forgiveness of your Lord; indeed, He is ever Forgiving. He will send rain to you in abundance"

أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَبْدَانَ، أنبأ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الصَّفَّارُ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ، ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، ثنا الْوَلِيدُ هُوَ ابْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، ثنا الْحَكَمُ هُوَ ابْنُ مُصْعَبٍ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّهُ حَدَّثَهُ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَنْ لَزِمَ الِاسْتِغْفَارَ جَعَلَ اللهُ لَهُ مِنْ كُلِّ هُمٍّ فَرَجًا، وَمِنْ كُلِّ ضِيقٍ مَخْرَجًا، وَرَزَقَهُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَحْتَسِبُ ".
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever holds fast to seeking forgiveness, Allah Almighty will grant him relief from every worry and a way out of every hardship, and will provide for him from where he does not even imagine."
