Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a man came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah! The livestock have perished and the people's roads have been cut off." In the narration of Imam al-Shafi'i: (the roads have been cut off). "So pray to Allah (for rain)!" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated. The narrator said: We were given rain from one Friday to the next. Then a man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah! The houses have collapsed, the roads have been blocked and the livestock have perished (so supplicate)." So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up and supplicated: 'Allahumma 'ala ru'us al-jibal wal-akam wa butun al-awdiyah wa manabit al-shajar' (O Allah, (send it) upon the mountaintops, the hillocks, the valley beds and the places where trees grow). The narrator said: The clouds cleared away from Madinah just as a garment is pulled away.
