Al-Hasan narrates from Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the moon was eclipsed while Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) was in Basrah. He led us in a prayer of two rak'ahs, bowing twice in each rak'ah. Then he mounted his riding animal and addressed us, saying: I prayed just as I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) praying. And he said: "The sun and the moon are two of the signs of Allah. They do not lose their light because of anyone's death or life. When you see either of them eclipsed, then turn to Allah for help."
