Tha'labah (may Allah have mercy on him), who was from Banu Abd al-Qays, narrates from Sayyiduna Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) that in his sermon he described the prayer of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) during the solar eclipse. He said: He (peace and blessings be upon him) came forward and led the people in prayer, and we were with him. He (peace and blessings be upon him) stood for a long time, as he (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do in his prayers, and we did not hear his voice. He bowed for as long as he used to, and still we did not hear his voice. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) did the same in the second rak'ah.
