In the narration of Ibn Hammad: I was present with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on the day of Eid. When he (peace and blessings be upon him) completed the prayer, he said: "Whoever likes to listen to the sermon, let him listen, and whoever likes to go may go."
Yahya bin Ma'in (may Allah have mercy on him) says: That Abdullah bin al-Sa'ib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that "he led them in the Eid prayer" is a mistake, because only Ata narrates this, and al-Fadl bin Musa al-Sinani, who narrates it from Abdullah bin al-Sa'ib, erred in it.
