حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ الْعَلَوِيُّ رَحَمَهُ اللهُ إِمْلَاءً، أنبأ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ الشَّرْقِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ بِشْرِ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أنبأ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ خُثَيْمٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، أَنَّ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " الْبَسُوا مِنْ ثِيَابِكُمُ الْبِيضَ، وَكَفِّنُوا فِيهَا مَوْتَاكُمْ، وَمِنْ خَيْرِ أَكْحَالِكُمُ الْإِثْمِدُ؛ إِنَّهُ يَجْلُو الْبَصَرَ، وَيُنْبِتُ الشَّعْرَ ".
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Wear white clothes, and shroud your dead in them; and the best of your kohl is ithmid, for it sharpens the eyesight and makes the hair grow."
