(a) Tawus (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I said to Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him): They have mentioned that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Take a bath (ghusl) on Friday and wash your heads, even if you are not in a state of major impurity, and apply perfume." Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: As for the ghusl, yes; as for perfume, I do not know.
(b) This, together with the hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), shows that the meaning of "man ghassala waghtasala" is: "one who washed his head and bathed (his body)."
