قَالَ الشَّافِعِيُّ: فَسَمِعْتُ بَعْضَ مَنْ أَرْضَى عِلْمَهُ بِالْقُرْآنِ، يَزْعُمُ أَنَّهَا نَزَلَتْ فِي الْقَائِمِينَ مِنَ النَّوْمِ. قَالَ الشَّيْخُ: وَهَذَا يَرْوِيهِ مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، أَنَّ ذَلِكَ إِذَا قُمْتُمْ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ مِنَ الْمَضَاجِعِ يَعْنِي النَّوْمَ،.
(a) Allah Almighty said: "When you rise for prayer, wash your faces" [Surah al-Ma'idah: 6].
Imam al-Shafi'i (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I heard from a person who had sound knowledge of the Qur'an that this verse was revealed concerning those who rise from sleep.
(b) The Shaykh says: It is narrated from Zayd bin Aslam that this verse was revealed concerning one who rises from sleep.
