(a) Abu Qilabah narrates from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) halted somewhere on a journey, he would choose the best place and stay there until he had combined Zuhr and Asr, then set off. When no place was ready, he (peace and blessings be upon him) would travel longer and delay Zuhr until he reached the halting place where he intended to combine Zuhr and Asr.
(b) Hammad narrates that when he (peace and blessings be upon him) travelled, he would halt at a place that pleased him (peace and blessings be upon him), stay there, and combine Zuhr and Asr.
