Awn bin Abi Juhayfah narrates from his father (may Allah be pleased with him): I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in Makkah while he (peace and blessings be upon him) was at al-Abtah in a red tent of his made of leather. Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) came out with the water of his ablution, and some (of the people) were obtaining some of it and others were sprinkling (from what others had). He said: Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out wearing a red garment; it is as if I am looking at the whiteness of his (peace and blessings be upon him) shins. The narrator said: He (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution and Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) gave the call to prayer. I began following his mouth this way and that, as he turned right and left saying: 'Hayya 'ala al-salah' (Come to prayer), 'Hayya 'ala al-falah' (Come to success). Then a spear was planted (in front of) him (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) stepped forward and led the Zuhr prayer with two rak'ahs. Donkeys and dogs were passing in front of him (peace and blessings be upon him), and they were not stopped. Then he led the Asr prayer with two rak'ahs. Then he kept praying two rak'ahs each in this way until he returned to Madinah.
