Bayhaqi 5418 — One who left wiping over leather socks without aversion

Ali bin Mudrik (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I saw Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) taking off his leather socks, and they looked at him. He said: I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wiping over them, but washing is dearer to me.
Muhammad bin Ubayd named him thus, 'Ali bin Mudrik', and that is not strong (Shu'bah narrated from Ali bin Mudrik); perhaps the correct name is Ali bin al-Salt, and Allah knows best.
