Abd al-Hamid bin al-Mundhir bin Abi Humayd al-Sa'idi narrates from his father, who narrates from his grandmother (may Allah be pleased with her), that she said: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), we love to pray with you (peace and blessings be upon him), but our husbands prevent us." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Your prayer in your rooms is better than your prayer in your courtyards, and your prayer in your courtyards is better than your prayer in the congregational mosque."
The Shaykh said: The command not to prevent them is one of recommendation, not an obligation or a duty. This is the view of the people of knowledge.
