أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، أنبأ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ، أنبأ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ الْحُرَيْثِ، ثنا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي عِمْرَانَ الْجَوْنِيِّ، عَنْ جُنْدُبٍ قَالَ: " كُنَّا غِلْمَانًا حَزَاوِرَةً مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَيُعَلِّمُنَا الْإِيمَانَ قَبْلَ الْقُرْآنِ، ثُمَّ يُعَلِّمُنَا الْقُرْآنَ فَازْدَدْنَا بِهِ إِيمَانًا، وَإِنَّكُمُ الْيَوْمَ تُعَلَّمُونَ الْقُرْآنَ قَبْلَ الْإِيمَانِ ".
Sayyiduna Jundab (may Allah be pleased with him) relates: We were young, strong boys with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). We learned faith before the Qur'an; then, when we learned the Qur'an, our faith increased through it. And today you learn the Qur'an before faith.
