أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ بِنَيْسَابُورَ، وَأَبُو الْقَاسِمِ زَيْدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الْعَلَوِيُّ بِالْكُوفَةِ، قَالَا: ثنا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ دُحَيْمٍ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْعَبْسِيُّ، ثنا وَكِيعٌ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ مُجَاهِدًا يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ طَاوُسٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: مَرَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى قَبْرَيْنِ فَقَالَ: " إِنَّهُمَا يُعَذَّبَانِ، وَمَا يُعَذَّبَانِ فِي كَبِيرٍ، أَمَّا أَحَدُهُمَا فَكَانَ يَمْشِي بِالنَّمِيمَةِ، وَأَمَّا الْآخَرُ فَكَانَ لَا يَسْتَنْزِهُ مِنْ بَوْلِهِ ". وَقَالَ وَكِيعٌ: لَا يَتَوَقَّى قَالَ: فَدَعَا بِعَسِيبٍ رَطْبٍ، فَشَقَّهُ بِاثْنَيْنِ، ثُمَّ غَرَسَ عَلَى هَذَا وَاحِدًا وَعَلَى هَذَا وَاحِدًا، ثُمَّ قَالَ: " لَعَلَّهُ أَنْ يُخَفِّفَ عَنْهُمَا الْعَذَابَ مَا لَمْ يَيْبَسَا ". رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى وَغَيْرِهِ. وَرَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ، عَنْ أَبِي كُرَيْبٍ وَغَيْرِهِ، كُلُّهُمْ عَنْ وَكِيعٍ.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by two graves and said: "Indeed, these two are being punished, and not for anything major. One of them used to spread tales, and the other did not guard himself against the splashes of his urine." Waki' said: (meaning) he did not take care. The narrator said: He (peace and blessings be upon him) called for a fresh palm stalk, split it into two, planted one on one grave and the other on the other, then said: "Perhaps Allah Almighty will lighten the punishment for them as long as these do not dry out."
