أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الرُّوذْبَارِيُّ، أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ دَاسَةَ، ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ مَخْرَمَةَ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ مَوْلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَبَّاسٍ أَخْبَرَهُ: " أَنَّهُ بَاتَ عِنْدَ مَيْمُونَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَهِيَ خَالَتُهُ، قَالَ: فَاضْطَجَعْتُ فِي عَرْضِ الْوِسَادَةِ، وَاضْطَجَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَهْلُهُ فِي طُولِهَا، فَنَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى إِذَا انْتَصَفَ اللَّيْلُ أَوْ قَبْلَهُ بِقَلِيلٍ أَوْ بَعْدَهُ بِقَلِيلٍ، ثُمَّ اسْتَيْقَظَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَجَلَسَ يَمْسَحُ النَّوْمَ عَنْ وَجْهِهِ بِيَدِهِ، ثُمَّ قَرَأَ الْعَشْرَ الْآيَاتِ الْخَوَاتِمَ مِنْ سُورَةِ آلِ عِمْرَانَ، ثُمَّ قَامَ إِلَى شَنٍّ مُعَلَّقَةٍ فَتَوَضَّأَ مِنْهَا فَأَحْسَنَ وُضُوءَهُ، ثُمَّ قَامَ يُصَلِّي، قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ: فَقُمْتُ فَصَنَعْتُ مِثْلَ مَا صَنَعَ ثُمَّ ذَهَبْتُ فَقُمْتُ إِلَى جَنْبِهِ، فَوَضَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى عَلَى رَأْسِي، وَأَخَذَ بِأُذُنِي يَفْتِلُهَا، فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ، قَالَ الْقَعْنَبِيُّ: سِتُّ مِرَارٍ، ثُمَّ أَوْتَرَ، ثُمَّ اضْطَجَعَ حَتَّى جَاءَهُ الْمُؤَذِّنُ فَقَامَ فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ خَفِيفَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَصَلَّى الصُّبْحَ ". رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ، عَنِ الْقَعْنَبِيِّ، وَرَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ مَالِكٍ.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) spent the night with his maternal aunt, Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He says: I lay down across the width of the pillow, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his wife lay down along its length. When half the night had passed, or a little before or after it, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) woke up and was wiping the sleep from his face with his hands. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) recited the last ten verses of Surah Al Imran. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) went to a hanging waterskin and performed ablution excellently, then he (peace and blessings be upon him) stood and prayed. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: I did just as he (peace and blessings be upon him) had done. Then I went and stood at the side of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) placed his right hand on my head and took hold of my ear and twisted it. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed two rak'ahs, then two rak'ahs, then two rak'ahs, then two rak'ahs, then two rak'ahs, then two rak'ahs. Al-Qa'nabi says: six times. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed witr. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) lay down until the mu'adhdhin came. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed two light rak'ahs. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) went out and prayed the morning (Fajr) prayer.
