Abu Uthman al-Nahdi (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) called three reciters and listened to their recitation. He told the fastest reciter among them to lead the people in the night prayer reciting thirty verses, told the one of middle pace to recite twenty-five verses, and told the slowest reciter to recite twenty verses.
